The boys lacrosse team pulled off their third consecutive Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championship victory Saturday at Hershey Park Stadium, defeating La Salle College High School 10-7. This marks the end of a season for a team that also won its third consecutive District I title and second consecutive (although fourth overall) Central League trophy this year. This also makes lacrosse the third team in the 2011-12 school year to secure a state title; boys soccer claimed its trophy in the fall, and boys tennis claimed its second victory in a row on May 19.

La Salle took an early lead in the game, ahead 2-0 halfway through the first quarter. But senior Tyler Brooke managed to shrink the gap by scoring as the clock wound down in that quarter. The Pioneers still lagged in the second quarter, although senior Connor Frisina scored, raising the score to 3-2. However, Brooke scored twice and sophomore Jake Scott scored a point so that the Pioneers held the lead by halftime, 5-4.

By the end of the third quarter, the team was able to extend their lead so that they were beating La Salle 8-5. The La Salle Explorers scored twice in the final segment of the game, but ‘Stoga was able to score two more goals and finish off 10-7.
