Conestoga to switch student email provider

By Lavi Ben-Dor, Convergence Editor

New posters hang in the halls of Conestoga reminding students of an upcoming change: student email accounts will no longer be hosted by K12 Schoolbits; instead, the district will be using a new email provider from the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), a change that is estimated to save $6,000.

Current email accounts will be closed on June 17 and students will no longer have access to emails received and stored under the old provider. The new accounts will be available starting June 20 and student email addresses however will remain the same.

“Students will findĀ it very similar to other email [providers] they use,” librarian Cathy Bond said.

District technology administrators investigated several providers before accepting a proposal by the CCIU. Bond said that she is glad that they have been able to find a service that is both high-quality and saves money for the district.

“I think it’s great that we can get the same services we have now for less money,” she said.
