Best Buddies chapters from Conestoga, Unionville and West Chester East High Schools culminated weeks of preparation as they presented their talents to students on April 12. The talent show, which was held third, fourth and fifth periods in the auditorium, featured dance acts and joke telling.

“I was really impressed,” freshman Andrew Winters said. “Seeing how much talent people in the club have, despite their obstacles in life, was just inspirational.”

Between acts, Spanish teacher Timothy Husband told jokes to the crowd, ocasionally joined by club members. Sophomore Tim McDonnell said he enjoyed Husband’s jokes and the club’s performances.

The talent show “was pretty entertaining,” McDonnell said. “It definitely promotes friendship and the [students] looked like they were having a lot of fun.”

Freshman Vinay Ekambaram said the talent show encouraged perseverance and promoted unity among local schools.

The performances “showed that even if you have a disability, you can still perform and show off who you are,” Ekambaram said.
