The Twelve Days of ‘Stoga
Stoganews.com gives you fun options for your winter break in a twelve-day series in a format similar to the popular Christmas carol ”The Twelve Days of Christmas”. For every day in the 12 school days before winter break, we will add that day’s number of items in a certain category. Day 1 (Dec. 8): One way to give back to the community: the ’Stoga Big Give.
Day 2 (Dec. 9): Two parks to explore: Valley Forge National Park and Wissahickon Valley Park.
Day 3 (Dec. 12): Three new activities to try: Cross-country skiing, ice skating and knitting.
Day 4 (Dec. 13): Four museums to visit: Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute, National Constitution Center and the Perelman Building.
Day 5 (Dec. 14): Five foods to eat: ham, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, chocolate chip cookies and apple pie.
Day 6 (Dec. 15): Six albums to listen to: “Ceremonials” by Florence and the Machine, “Helplessness Blues” by Fleet Foxes, “El Camino” by The Black Keys, “Bon Iver” by Bon Iver, “Gimme Some” by Peter Bjorn and John and “Torches” by Foster the People.
Day 7 (Dec. 16): Seven movies to watch: Just Friends, Elf, The Year without a Santa Claus, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Arthur Christmas, the Santa Clause and A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas.
Day 8 (Dec. 19): Eight stores to shop at: 5 Below, Nordstrom Rack, uncommongoods.com, Wayne Sporting Goods, South Moon Under, fredflare.com, T. J. Maxx and Finer Things.
Day 9 (Dec. 20): Nine cookie recipes to try: Thumb Print, Hershey Kiss, Bowtie, Lemon Ricotta, Chocolate Chip , Crescent and Peanut Butter Cup Cookies, Triple Chocolate Biscotti and Snickerdoodles.
Day 10 (Dec. 21): Ten holiday songs to enjoy: “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Winter Wonderland,” “A Holly Jolly Christmas,” “Feliz Navidad,” “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”
