A 6-year-old Chester County boy who had been in contact with people who traveled to Mexico contracted the “swine flu” virus but has fully recovered, county health officials said Friday, in the first case reported in the county in what has become a global outbreak.
Officials said in a press release that the CDC had tested the boy on May 2 for the virus, officially known as the H1N1 virus, and the agency told county officials today of the results.
The boy was not hospitalized and fully recovered, the county said.
So far there has been 10 confirmed “swine flu” cases in Pennsylvania and 18 probable cases, according to the state Department of Health. Chester County is one of seven counties where there has been a confirmed case.
The Department of Health also said there is one other probable case in the county.
It is unclear where in the county the boy was from or the status of the current probable case.
